FOOS - Oakura School

FOOS

Friends of Oakura School (commonly known as ‘FOOS’)

FOOS is an enthusiastic group of parents who meet twice a term along with our Principal and a teacher representative. FOOS supports the school by fundraising for items that complement current school resources, usually by organising fun events and activities.

Through fundraising, FOOS has donated money to the school to support the purchase of computer hardware, sandpit and water toys, sports uniforms, classroom resources, building and playground developments, sunblock and a subsidy for school sunhats.

As well as the donations and events, FOOS also organise sausage sizzles - at the Beach Clean Up day, Parent Lunch Days and swimming sports; two afternoon teas for new families to give them a chance to meet others; ice-blocks to all the children after the popular end-of-year ‘Fun Run’.

FOOS would love some new members. The involvement is not onerous and you decide which activities you want to help with. FOOS also operates a list of people willing to help, but not wishing to be on the committee. This list gets put to good use when setting up activities. An extra pair of hands is always needed.

If this sounds like you, or you would like to find out more, please contact the school office for contact details of the current committee members.
FOOS always appreciate new ideas for fundraising activities. If you have any, or know of a business or service that you think could support FOOS, just drop a note into the FOOS box at the school office.
